Will you help us?
The life of the CA Libertarian Party depends on us doubling our voter registration. Why you may ask……the passage of Prop 14 is about to kill us as an active political party. With the passage of Prop 14, only the top 2 candidates from the primaries will enter into the November elections. The CA LP and other 3rd parties rely on being in the November elections so that one of their candidates, running a statewide seat, can get at least 2% of the vote. If we get 2% in this upcoming election then we save our ballot access for two more elections. Please make sure you vote for all of our statewide candidates this election. Ballot access is what allows our candidates to get on the ballot much easier. Without it, it will be next to impossible to get Libertarian candidates on the ballot. Most likely a Libertarian candidate won’t be in the top 2 and we lose our ballot access.
Another way to save our ballot access is to raise our registration #s to 1% of all the people that voted in the last election. Yes a moving target, as we won’t know how many we need for the next election until the current elections in Nov take place, but I am told we need to double our registrations. We can do this. Can you take on registering some Not-Yet-Libertarians or people who have dropped out because they were fed up with the system.
Many people who voted for Prop 14 had no idea it was going to end 3rd parties or they could no longer WRITE IN their vote. Ask them to help us right the wrong of Prop 14. Hey, what can it hurt to ask. They may just say YES. Tell them to go to http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/voters/Eng/Ereg.shtml for more info on how to register or change their registration. Better yet, have some spare registration cards in your car at all times. You can pick some up at the San Diego Registrar of Voters free of charge.
